Players purchase six Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek Play Boosters to start the league and will have the option to purchase additional Play Boosters as they progress through the event. After buying in, players receive player insignia to keep. They will use this to track their matches and promotions.
Once a player has accumulated 15 signatures on their insignia—three from Starfleet Academy, plus three from each of the four quadrants—they've reached the rank of Captain.
Reaching the rank of Captain earns a player the Magic Presents: To Boldly Go promo card, marking the completion of their journey through the event.
